EIHL Fixtures are Released

The 2012 – 13 EIHL fixtures are out.

All eyes will be on 26th December when Nottingham and Sheffield will meet again. The biggest derby in British ice hockey was held on Boxing Day last year in front of a bumper crowd at the Motorpoint Arena and a repeat will be expected at the NIC this season. Other notable dates in on the calendar are the Playoff Finals at the NIC on April 6th and 7th.

However the action gets under way before all that. The opening day of the season will be the 8th September with a mix of Challenge Cup and league action with pick of the opening day fixtures being a Forth Derby between Edinburgh and Fife in Kirkcaldy. The other opening weekend highlight will be the home and home series between the Cardiff Devils and the Sheffield Steelers.

Other early highlights will be the Belfast Giants trip to the NIC for a double header with the Panthers on the second weekend of the season. It will be a trip that will give a big insight into how the season will go for these two title hopefuls.

2012 Elite League Champions Belfast Giants

At the other end of the season the league will end on the 24th March and has thrown up a beauty of a last day. Last seasons top 4 in the elite league will all play each other as 2012 Champions Belfast travel to runners up Sheffield and third placed Nottingham head to fourth placed Cardiff.
